UKERNA domains - naming guidelines

Eligibility for ac.uk and gov.uk domain names

Before applying please check that you are eligible and that you adopt the correct naming convention:

Names ending with .gov.uk

eGU (e-Government Unit) is responsible for the policy governing the gov.uk domain, and for its rules and guidelines. UKERNA administers the gov.uk domain on behalf of eGU, in providing the name submission, approval and registration systems for the domain.

Check that you qualify and that you have used the correct naming convention at the eGU site here.

Names ending with .ac.uk

UKERNA has overall responsibility for the ac.uk domain. This includes the setting of policy and guidelines, as well as the name submission, approval and registration procedures for the domain.
